Terry Taylor was awarded the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career with APSU on Monday, Feb. 18. This time, the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year shares the crown with his perennial conference rival Ja Morant of Mu**ay State.
Taylor averaged a double-double for the Govs this week, knocking down an average 33.5 points and 13 rebounds in two games.
The Bowling Green, Kentucky native set a career high in scoring with his Saturday, Feb. 16 performance on the road to Morehead State. APSU’s leading scorer dished out 42 points in a game that saw the Govs score 73 points.
This outing was the first time a Gov eclipsed the 40-point mark since Derek Wright in January 2008. Additionally, Taylor now holds the most points by a conference player this season as well as being the fourth Gov to hit 40 this term. The sophomore also tallied 18 rebounds in the affair.
In the week’s marquee match-up, Taylor finished with 25 points in the hosting of arch-rival’s Mu**ay State.
This is the second time in the month that Taylor has been named OVC Player of the Week (Feb. 4).
The Govs return to the court of Thursday, Feb. 21 to host Southeast Missouri.
