Austin Peay State University traveled down to Southeastern Conference country to take on the University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss. The Governors, however, took a 72-65 loss in front of a crowd of 7,473 in Sandy and John Black Pavilion.
The Governors played a great game against the former Sweet Sixteen team last season, even taking them on a 23-6 run late in the second half to tie the game. The Rebels responded with a run of their own late in the half to seal the deal.
Governors of the Game
- Collin Parker scored 18 points while grabbing eight rebounds and picking up three assists as well. Parker hit four big threes to lead the team in threes made on the night as well.
- Zyree Collins continues to impress in his freshman campaign, reaching double digits in scoring for the fifth game in a row after scoring 17. Collins also had six assists, four rebounds and three steals.
- Rashaud Marshall had a breakout game, scoring 14 points, including two big-time lob dunks. Marshall also grabbed six rebounds, blocked two shots and was responsible for two steals.
Rebels of the Game
- Tyrese Haliburton look-alike Ilias Kamardine had 15 points with seven rebounds, seven assists and a steal. Kamardine came up big for the Rebels in the second half, making it hard not to compare him to Haliburton.
- Malik Dia dropped 18 points while grabbing seven rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.
The Governors now turn all sights toward the University of Tulsa for the final game of a five-game road trip on Friday night. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
