The Austin Peay sports teams had a busy week, competing in conference play.
VALDOSTA, Ga. — Austin Peay State University men’s golf finished tied for ninth at the 2026 ASUN Conference Men’s Golf Championship, held Monday through Wednesday, April 20-22, at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
The Governors sat tied for seventh after the first round behind a five-under 67 from Patton Samuels, who held a share of the individual lead. He followed with a three-under 69 in round two to move into second place at eight-under as the team remained seventh through 36 holes.
In the final round Wednesday, April 22, Austin Peay shot a nine-over 297 to finish at 13-over 877, tying with Queens University of Charlotte. Florida Gulf Coast won the team title.
Samuels closed with an even-par 72 to finish third at eight-under 208 and earn All-Tournament Team honors. Jack Dyer led the final round with a one-under 71 to finish tied for 26th, while Zach Olsen placed 30th. John Mark Mills and Parker Elkins rounded out the scoring.
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Austin Peay State University beach volleyball’s season ended Thursday, April 23, at the ASUN Conference Beach Volleyball Championship at John Hunt Park.
The Governors, the No. 8 seed, opened with a 5-0 loss to No. 14 Stetson University. Austin Peay then dropped a 3-0 decision to the University of North Alabama in an elimination match Thursday, April 23.
The Govs finished the season with 14 wins, an 11-win improvement from 2025.
Freshman Isabella Russell earned a spot on the ASUN All-Freshman Team after a 13-win season on Court No. 1. Six Governors were also named to the ASUN All-Academic Team with 4.0 GPAs.
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Austin Peay State University lacrosse closed its inaugural season with a 16-13 loss to Lindenwood University on Wednesday, April 22, at Morgan Bros. Field.
The Governors (4-12) led 5-4 after the first quarter before Lindenwood took an 8-7 lead into halftime. Austin Peay trailed 13-12 entering the fourth quarter, but the Lions pulled away late.
Fiona Lemke led with five goals, while Samantha Houttekier added three assists. Lauryn Warfield finished with two goals and six draw controls in her final game, alongside senior Mak Patten.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Austin Peay State University baseball fell 6-4 to Western Kentucky University on Wednesday, April 22, at Nick Denes Field.
Senior Gavin Alveti was named to the 2026 NCBWA Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Austin Peay State University baseball dropped the first two games of its series against Lipscomb University on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25.
The Governors responded with a win Sunday, April 26, at Ken Dugan Field. DJ Merriweather pitched 7.2 innings with eight strikeouts to earn his third win of the season.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Austin Peay State University softball secured a postseason berth in ASUN Conference play against Lipscomb University.
The Governors swept a doubleheader Saturday, April 25, winning 3-0 and 4-1. Alanah Jones threw a complete-game shutout in game one, while Natalie Burns led in game two.
Austin Peay fell 5-2 Sunday, April 26. Katie Raper recorded two hits and both RBIs, including her 15th home run of the season.
