Two of APSU’s Lady Gov volleyball players, Cecily Gable and Kristen Stucker, have been selected for the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 3 Volleyball team. The Lady Govs were acknowledged as the nation’s best student-athletes for not only their great athletic performances but also their performances academically.
Sophomore Cecily Gable is a nursing major from Memphis Tennessee. She has maintained a GPA of 3.97, and last year she was a member of Ohio Valley Conference’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Gable has also been named to APSU’s Dean’s List and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll twice.
Gable has also shown a strong and consistent performance on the court. She is the third leading hitter this season, and she was also named OVC’s Offensive player of the Week, Sept. 19.
Sophomore Kristen Stucker, who is from Johnston, Iowa, is majoring in Biology, and has an outstanding 4.00 GPA. Last summer, Stucker was awarded the OVC’s Academic Metal of honor and was listed on the league’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In her freshman year, she was on the Dean’s List, APSU’s President’s List, and the Athletic Directors Honor Roll.
On the court, Stucker has been a solid setter for the Lady Govs. She is ranked second amid all Division I setters with 1,126 assists. Because of her performance, the Lady Govs have an OVC high .223 attack percentage and are first in the conference with 1,439 kills.
