WOODBURY, Tenn. (AP) — Woodbury’s former police chief has been sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to stealing from a federal grant program meant to increase DUI enforcement.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office in Nashville, between January 2013 and February 2015 Kevin Mooneyham submitted fraudulent timesheets for more than $28,000 in overtime hours that he did not work.
Mooneyham admitted to telling other Woodbury officers the overtime was not available while telling a Woodbury town official that other officers were unwilling to perform the extra DUI patrols.
U.S. District Judge Kevin Sharp sentenced Mooneyham on Monday, Oct. 19, 2015. In addition to prison time, Mooneyham was ordered to serve one year of supervised release and pay restitution of just more than $42,000.
