APSU’s Govs took on the Sewanee Tigers on Friday, Nov. 4, at the Dunn Center. This was the Govs’ last expedition game before the beginning of the regular season. They came out on top with a score of 89-72.
The Govs spent most of the first half trailing the Tigers.
“We didn’t play with enough energy defensively,” Head Coach Dave Loos said.
Even though the Govs were behind for most of the first half, they steadily closed in on the Tigers, and with less than a minute to go, APSU took the lead with a 3-pointer by sophomore Zach Glotta.
“I thought it was really important that we got a lead by halftime,” Loos said.
In the first half, senior Kenny Jones led the Govs in points with 14.
The Govs finally began to pull away from the Tigers in the second half. APSU’s Josh Robinson dominated in the second half with 20 points. By the end of the game, Robinson led the Govs in points with 31.
The Tigers put up a tough fight against the Govs, and out-shot APSU from behind the 3-point line with 15 shots made; however, this was not enough to take a win.
The Govs next match-up for their first game of the regular season will be at Dayton on Friday, Nov. 11.
