The Ohio Valley Conference announced awards on Tuesday, May 24. Junior Logan Gray won All-OVC First Team as a utility player, an award teammate Alex Robles took home last year.
Prior to the season, Gray was named a Pre-Season All-American by D1Baseball.com along with Co-OVC Player of the Year.
Gray finished the regular season batting .356 with 53 hits, 41 runs, 13 doubles, 12 home runs and 36 RBIs.
According to letsgopeay.com, Gray was drafted in the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft in the 25th round by the Kansas City Royals. Gray was drafted 19 picks ahead of APSU baseball alumnus Reed Harper, who was a part of the legendary 2013 team that just fell shy of the College World Series. Harper is now a player in the Braves organization.
Robles, Jared Carkuff and Chase Hamilton finished the season as All-OVC Second Team. Robles earned the honor as a starting pitcher, Carkuff as a relief pitcher and Hamilton as an outfielder
Robles went 9-5 with a 4.52 ERA 89.2 IP and 78 strikeouts. Robles is a familiar face to the award ceremony. In 2014, Robles earned All-Freshman Team along with All-OVC Second Team. In 2015, Robles set an OVC record when he earned All-OVC First Team as a pitcher and a utility player.
Carkuff, a first time award winner finished the season 5-1 with a 3.95 ERA, 6 saves, 54.2 IP and 48 strikeouts. Carkuff spent his first three seasons as an APSU starter, but went into the bullpen his senior year.
Hamilton, another first timer OVC winner went .335 with 56 hits, 43 runs 13 doubles, 12 home runs and 45 RBIs.
