ConGT, Tennessee’s first exclusively Doctor Who convention, is pleased to return for the third regeneration, Friday through Sunday, March 17-19, 2017, at the Riverview Inn in Clarksville.
ConGT is a 2 and a half day festival dedicated to the longest running science fiction television show in history, Doctor Who.
The show first debuted in 1963 and has a been a fixture in Great Britain since then, and in America almost as long.
For 2017, ConGT welcomes the following guests to the show:
• Sophie Aldred – one of Doctor Who’s most popular companions, she played ‘Ace’ during the 7th Doctor’s (Sylvester McCoy) time on the show
• Frazer Hines – spent time on the TARDIS with the first two Doctors (William Hartnell & Patrick Troughton). Frazer has appeared in more episodes of Doctor Who than any other companion, and all but four of the Doctors themselves.
• Colin Spaull – a British actor who appeared not only in the classic Doctor Who series (pre 1989), but also in the modern day era.
• Andrew Cartmel – British author who served as the script editor for Doctor Who in the 1980’s. His book ‘Script Doctor’ recounts his days with the show and provides a nice account of what it’s like to work on a hit television show. Andrew was in Clarksville for the first ConGT.
• Sarah Madison – British actress who has appeared in multiple episodes of Doctor Who as a ‘Weeping Angel’, perhaps the scariest villain on the show.
• Robin Burks – is an author and cosplayer who specializes in Doctor Who. She returns for her third visit to ConGT.
From Friday afternoon until Sunday, attendees will be immersed in the world of Doctor Who. It all begins on Friday night with the VIP party, ‘Return to Trenzalore’, where VIP ticket holders not only get custom photos with Sophie and Frazer, but “up close and personal” time with all of our guests.
Saturday and Sunday are days full of meeting the guests, cosplay contests (with rewards), trivia, breakout panels about non Doctor Who items, green screen photography, video room and much more. It is a chance to not only learn about the series, but to show off their various costumes.
ConGT will also offer two ‘paint the TARDIS’ parties for 2017. This was a huge hit last year, and allows attendees to work with a professional artist to turn out their own TARDIS painting: a great souvenir of a Doctor Who weekend.
ConGT also welcomes nearly 30 vendors, with items catering to the sci-fi enthusiast and Doctor Who in particular.
ConGT has chosen the Clarksville-Montgomery County Humane Society again this year as our chosen charity. In 2016, the convention raised over a thousand dollars for the group.
During the convention, details will be announced about our second convention, ‘Smoky Mountain Who’, which will be held in Gatlinburg, September 7-9, 2017.
ConGT tickets are available in a variety of packages, including a single day pass, weekend pass, or VIP pass.
