APSU’s enrollment total for Fall 2016, at 10,344 students, represents the university’s largest incoming class since 2013, according to recently released official enrollment figures.
Among institutions affiliated with the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), APSU is one of two universities to report an increase in enrollment overall for the semester. According to TBR’s website, six universities are considered TBR institutions.
The freshman class in particular accounts for the growth compared to recent years, with 1,963 first-time freshmen reported by APSU. This is a 26.3 percent increase from 2015 and a 26.6 percent increase over the last five years.
“This year’s enrollment numbers validate our efforts to expand our University’s reach, while continuing to meet the needs of Middle Tennessee,” APSU President Alisa White said in a university press release. “Making sure that we recruit and retain quality students is a major part of the University’s Leading Through Excellence Strategic Plan, and these numbers are a good first step as we work to educate a growing number of our citizens.”
