A 101st Airborne Division soldier was apprehended at Fort Campbell by military police in response to reports of an active shooter near Campbell Army Airfield on Thursday, Aug. 25.
Fort Campbell spokesman Robert Jenkins said in a news release that there are no reported injuries, the post is secure, the gates are open and the community is safe.
The APSU Center at Fort Campbell was not directly impacted by the situation, according to Clarksville Online. APSU police were notified of the incident at 12:33 p.m. and secured the center, and at approximately 12:36 p.m. they were told the situation had ended and re-opened it.
The soldier’s identity and any charges against them have not been revealed. This is an ongoing story and will be updated accordingly.
