Letsgopeay.com reported that sophomore Kristen Stucker was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s 2016 Setter of the Year. Stucker is the first Lady Gov to achieve the honor, and she was also a first-team All-OVC selection. Stucker is also a four-time recipient of the adidas® OVC Setter of the Week award.
“It has been exciting to see Kristen mature as a setter this season,” Head Coach Taylor Mott said to letsgopeay.com. “While she always has had superior athletic ability, she has taken her game to the next level thanks to a better understanding of how to run our offense. We can’t wait to see the next step in her evolution at setter.”
Junior Ashley Slay was named to the first-team All-OVC as well. Slay showed intensity throughout her junior season and was a key member for the Lady Govs’ offense. She was recognized as an AVCA National Player of the Week on Oct. 10, as well as an adidas® OVC Offensive Player of the Week twice throughout the season.
“We are pleased Ashley was recognized by the league for her play this season,” Mott said to letsgopeay.com. “Not only has she played at a high level all season but she has been a steady and consistent piece of our offense. Ashley brings energy every time she steps on the court and her improvement has been a huge piece in our team’s improvement.”
