The APSU Student Government Association (SGA) continues to look forward to Greater Halloween Options for Safe Trick or Treating (G.H.O.S.T.) as it quickly approaches.
G.H.O.S.T. is a long-standing tradition held at APSU, which has historically been sponsored by the SGA. G.H.O.S.T. occurs Sunday, Oct. 27 from 4-7 p.m. in the U.C. Plaza and interior of campus.
APSU clubs and organizations, as well as organizations from the community, will dress up, hand out candy and play games with the children of Clarksville.
Homecoming is also fast approaching, occurring a week after G.H.O.S.T. form Nov. 4 to Nov. 9. SGA will be doing a t-shirt giveaway as one of Homecoming’s long list of events.
As events move close, so does the end of the semester.
SGA Executive Secretary Elijah McGhee reminded senators that as the end of the semester looms over the horizon so does the deadline for their legislation submissions.
“The weeks are narrowing,” McGhee said.
Legislation, he reminds them, can have up to three co-authors, and all of them will get credit.
The standing rules and bylaws do not mention sponsors getting credit, he also reminded them. So, if a senator sponsors a piece of legislation, they will not get credit for it.
“All Senators are required to submit a minimum of (1) piece of legislation per semester. This legislation must be adopted and voted upon by the Student Government Association to satisfy this requirement,” the Standing Rules say. “There is no maximum number of senators that may sponsor the legislation; however, only the first 3 author will be counted for submitting the legislation.”
The Standing Rules also indicate that co-authors will be allowed to contribute to writing legislation and receive credit for it.
“Any Senator(s) who does not adhere to these requirements will be terminated from office for not upholding the requirements for service in the legislative branch of SGA,” the Standing Rules say.
