The Art and Theatre/Dance Department faculty coordinated a welcome-back event for freshmen and all returning students.
They usually have exhibit blocks and volleyball, but this year was different.
From 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, students gathered to compete, art department against theatre department, in a balloon toss.
“Since all students share the same building, the competition would be fun to do,” said art instructor Becky Hall.
As free pizza and sodas were served, theatre student Courtney Hill remarked, “We need some music to go with this, but laughter is good enough!”
As evening approached, art students took position, despite there being no theatre students on the opposite side. By default, the art students played each other with a final score of 55-3.
Many students elected to sit out the official contest, though water balloons managed to drench competitors and non-competitors alike.
