Lameria Thomas recorded a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double, but the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team dropped a 69-66 decision to North Florida on Thursday, Jan. 29, at F&M Bank Arena.
Jim’Miyah Branton led the Governors with 17 points and added five steals, while Thomas posted her second double-double of the season. Anovia Sheals contributed five assists and helped spark Austin Peay’s comeback effort in the second half.
North Florida built an early lead after holding the Governors to six points in the first quarter. Austin Peay responded with a strong third quarter, scoring 29 points and briefly taking the lead late in the game, but the Ospreys sealed the win with a three-pointer in the final seconds.
Despite the loss, the Governors outscored North Florida in the paint (30-22), off the bench (19-11), and in fast-break points (15-4).
Austin Peay returns to F&M Bank Arena to host Jacksonville at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31.
