The win improved the Governors to 9–0 on the road this season and snapped Florida Gulf Coast’s Atlantic Sun Conference home winning streak dating back to February 2022.
Kyra Perkins led Austin Peay with a career-high 19 points, while Anovia Sheals added 14. Jim’Miyah Branton scored 10 points, and Lameria Thomas finished with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.
The two teams traded baskets early, with four ties in the first quarter. Austin Peay took a 16–13 lead after the opening period and carried a 37–35 advantage into halftime.
The Governors built their largest lead in the third quarter before Florida Gulf Coast mounted a comeback in the fourth, cutting the deficit to two points. Late layups by Branton and Sheals, along with free throws from Perkins, sealed the win for Austin Peay.
Austin Peay outscored Florida Gulf Coast 40–22 in the paint and 45–22 off the bench, which proved to be the difference.
The Governors remain in Florida and will face Stetson on Jan. 24 at Insight Credit Union Arena at Edmunds Center.
