The Lady Govs take a four-set loss to Tennessee Tech (25-22, 15-25, 16-25, 19-25) on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019.
Austin Peay (7-16, 5-4 OVC) in all the sets had trouble sustaining a lead and keeping the momentum on their side.
Even with Tegan Seyring getting a career-high 15 kills Gov’s Brooke Moore got a double-double with a 14-kill, 15-dig and still could not pull the win.
In the first set, APSU is trading points back and forth with TTU showing promise that they can win the set. The Govs in the set started to fall behind TTU (9-13) but they started to pick up momentum and went on a 6-1 run with Chole Stitt getting a kill to take the lead against TTU making the score 15-14.
With that, the Gov’s continued to keep the pressure on Tennessee Tech (10-12, 6-3 OVC) and did not let the lead go. With that Gov’s have a 4-point lead (20-16) on TTU looking to close set out. APSU only having to score a couple of points to win the set Govs let TTU score some point before they close the set at 25-22.
Start of the second set Gov’s and TTU continue to go back and forth just like it first set. During the set TTU started to gain short leads throughout the set and then when the score was 10-11 Govs down.
Continuing the set, TTU went on a 13-5 run with TTU winning the set (15-25).
APSU in the third set, let the same issue that happens like in the second set. They let TTU continue to get short runs when the score was 11-14. TTU went on a 12-5 run and ended the set 25-16 TTU winning the set.
In the final set, APSU let TTU go on a 7-0 run (2-8) and let them continue to dominate. The Govs in the set tried closing the score gap with little burst runs but TTU would keep the lead. APSU was only down 3 points at 16-19 but Tennessee Tech did not let up. The Govs lost the set 19-25.
Even with this loss, the Govs still host Eastern Illinois on Friday, Nov. 2 at 2:00 p.m.
