One non-conference game for Austin Peay Football has been made official for 2015.
On Tuesday, the SEC released complete schedules for all 14 teams, including the Vanderbilt Commodores. Booked for Sept. 19 is a home contest against the Governors, with the Commodores also playing Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky on the local scene.
“Playing three teams from this area in Western Kentucky, Austin Peay and Middle Tennessee should generate a lot of local interest among college football fans entering the season,” Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason said in a statement.
In 2013, the Govs traveled to Nashville for the first ever meeting between the two sides, with the Dores cruising to a 38-3 victory. Vanderbilt scored 35 of their 38 points in the second quarter, with former Commodore and now Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews leading the way with 111 yards and a touchdown.
On the APSU side, Tim Phillips rushed for a team-high 67 yards, but the only points the Govs would get came on a 20-yard field goal by Walter Spears.
The game drew a crowd of just over 33,000 fans at Vanderbilt Stadium under the lights.
A time for the 2015 contest will be announced at a later date.
