The Lady Govs used 17 first half turnovers by Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville to help secure a 77-67 win for their third straight Ohio Valley Conference road victory. Austin Peay gets back to even in conference (3-3) and now are in second place in the west division, a game and a half ahead of SIUE.
Tiasha Gray came off the bench for the third straight game to lead the Lady Govs in scoring with 20 points. Since moving Gray out of the starting lineup the team is 3-0 and Gray has lead the Lady Govs in scoring in each gam off of the bench.
Gray had help from freshman Tearra Banks, who scored a career high 19 points in 26 minutes of play, junior Kristen Stainback and senior Nicole Olszewski. Stainback, who has been the most consistent scorer this season for the Lady Govs, scored 15 points while Olszewski added 12.
The Lady Govs return home now for a three game home stand. Of the nine remaining game on the Lady Gov schedule six are at the Dunn Center. The Lady Govs take the court Saturday, January 25 against Tennessee Tech at 3 P.M.
