Calling all APSU students who have outstanding parking tickets, its not to late make two of them disappear.
From Monday, Dec. 7, to Monday, Dec. 14, APSU’s Department of Public Safety and the APSU Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement, will be enlisting the students of APSU to “pay it forward” by donating 10 non-perishable food items to waive an outstanding parking ticket.
The non-perishable items will be going to APSU’s Save Our Students Food Pantry. The SOS food pantry provides emergency nutritional assistance to APSU students in need.
So if you have tickets piling up, “pay it forward” and donate your non-perishable items for up to two tickets.
These are the following items, according to the SOS Food Pantry, that will be acceptable payment for parking tickets:
Can/Jars:
Peanut butter, Jelly, Fruit- 12-14 ounces or more, Vegetables- 12-14 ounces or more (no corn or peas please – we are stocked), Tuna or Chicken- 5 ounces or more (cans or packets) and Soup- 10 ounces or more.
Dry Goods- Each pound will be counted as a separate item (ex: 2 pound bag = 2 items):
Rice, Pasta and Beans (any type)
Boxed Food:
Cereal-12 ounces or more and Instant Mashed Potatoes- 8 ounces or more.
Meat- Frozen or Capable of being Frozen:
2 pounds of meat will be accepted as payment for one parking citation.
Ramen noodles will not be accepted.
APSU will not be able to waive tickets for parking in disabled spaces, or tickets that have already been paid.
If you want to donate, visit the Shasteen Building no sooner than 8:30 a.m. December 7 -14. If you want to donate meat items bring them to the SOS Food Pantry, make sure to have your tickets and A numbers ready at both places.
