NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Nashville International Airport had more than 11 million passengers in 2014, a record in the facility’s 77-year history.
The year’s passenger volume marked a nearly 7 percent increase from 2013 for the airport served by 10 carriers.
The airport in 2014 celebrated new nonstop service to the San Francisco area on Southwest Airlines and added service to vacation spots in Jamaica, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
New features at the airport include a facility-wide beer and liquor license that allows travelers to carry their drinks throughout the terminal, free Wi-Fi and the country’s first sanctioned service by ride-sharing companies like Lyft and Uber.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam’s administration has been trying to boost interest in adding nonstop service from Nashville to Asia as an economic development tool. TAS
