Downtown Clarksville shone bright last Saturday as the annual Lighted Christmas Parade brought residents together in celebration of this year’s theme, “Christmas Through the Decades.”
Running through the heart of Downtown, the parade featured floats inspired by everything from 1950s rock-and-roll vibes to 1980s MTV flash, as well as nods to the 2020s.
Marching bands played classic and modern Christmas tunes as children gathered candy thrown from passing floats. A sign of the times, young watchers frequently broke out into the viral “six seven” chant whenever floats carrying other kids approached. The meme-inspired call-and-response added a modern note to the parade’s nostalgic atmosphere.
