The Fortera Stadium was booming with music, dancing, and laughter as Austin Peay State University held its annual Gov’s Fest on Friday, Aug. 22— a celebratory tradition to welcome new and returning students with some Peay spirit.
From dance-offs to fight song singing contests, there was no shortage of entertainment for the new and returning Govs this year. The energy was unmatched with inflatables and carnival-style rides, adding to the energy, while different contests caused crowds of people to laugh and cheer as they watched their friends participate.
Of course, a college festival is not complete without some free food, and there was plenty for the incoming freshmen since APSU partnered with Buffalo Wild Wings to give out free nuggets and drinks, which was a clear hit. There were also plenty of pop-up stalls to visit, showcasing student organizations, Greek life and even the Nashville Predators’ Ice Hockey team, each offering games and giveaways to encourage student involvement.
By the end of the evening, APSU’s Gov’s Fest once again delivered what it’s known for, a spirited kickoff to the semester, reminding every Gov that they’re part of a lively, welcoming community.
