The stage was set for the Govs; a perfect day for football with OVC championship and playoff seedings at stake. APSU is at the point of a potential to become OVC champions for the first time since 1977. To build an even bigger narrative, it was against the Governors biggest rival of the season: Mu**ay State.
The clock was set and APSU was ready to retrieve the ball on the opening kick. For the first time in two weeks, quarterback, JaVaughn Craig and the rest of the offense scored on the opening possession of the game. Capping off the drive with a one yard scamper from Prince Momodu, he would see the end zone again later on.
The game came to a defensive standstill until 9 minutes left in the first half, when the Govs stuck gold again. This time for 40 yards in the air. 14-0 would be the score going into halftime.
Again, at the 9-minute mark, APSU would strike again to put the lead at 21 before Mu**ay could even sniff the end zone. This would be their only score of the game; a 27 yard pass completion 3 minutes before the third quarter ended.
As the fourth quarter started, what was supposed to be a football game turned into an onslaught for the Racers at Mu**ay State, APSU would go on to score three more touchdowns and never look back; finishing the game with a final score of 42-7.

Both offense and defense for the Govs played exceptionally well with only one turnover from the offense and a forced interception created by the defense. The same defense that held a defense to negative rushing yards for the 2nd week in a row.
As far as the this victory for APSU goes, it only puts the Govs in the driver seat for playoffs seeding once the season ends. With APSU never having success in recent program history, most students have never seen them do this well. However, if the Govs win next week against Eastern Illinois (1-10) it will only set them up for success and give them momentum leading up to the first game of OVCs.
But just like Coach Hudspeth has said all year:
“We can only take things one week at a time and do everything in our power to keeping winning ball-games.”
