The Govs moved the ball exceptionally well against Eastern Kentucky Thursday night, Jan. 25 in a 90-84 victory.
The last time six or more players hit double digits for APSU was Nov. 14, 2016 in which the Govs captured a big win over Oakland City, 107-67.
Terry Taylor, a freshman out of Bowling Green, Kentucky, picked up his ninth double-double of the season.
He led the charge with 19 points and snatched 12 rebounds.
“It feels good to know that we got other weapons. It makes us really hard to guard because anybody can get their shot from anywhere,” said Taylor. “So, I think it adds great dimension to our team when six players score in double figures.”
The Govs suffered a tough loss against Belmont last Saturday, Jan. 20, before bouncing back in their clash with the EKU Colonels.
Steve Harris, junior from St. Louis, has stepped up for the Govs.
Harris’s play is becoming more confident and effective this season at the point guard position.
“After that game, we definitely had a bad taste in our mouth. Just trying to get back on our feet again,” Harris said, “this is the most confident I have been since I have been here.”
Harris’s performance in a position change captured the attention of Head Coach Matt Figger.
“He is getting comfortable; I want to start playing him at the point. He did a really good job for me at the point tonight,” Figger said.
Figger led his team’s offense charge against his alma mater.
Coach Figger graduated from Eastern Kentucky University, but said he had no feelings in his first time playing against them.
“I just got a diploma there; I have no feelings whatsoever. I finished my college life there. I haven’t been back there since 1992 or 1993.”
The Govs executed ball movement well for the win.

“We always want to share the ball and be unselfish. We preach that. Do not take the good shot, take the best, and we shared the ball pretty well tonight.”
The game was tied 82 with just over a minute left to play.
The Govs knew they need a big stop to end this losing streak.
“We knew it was crunch time, and we had to get a stop,” said Harris.
“[Boyd] on their team was hot so we knew the ball was going to him or May,” Harris said, “We just tried to get a stop and come back down and execute.”
Averly Ugba, a senior out of Silver Spring, MD stepped up for the Govs with a big block to seal the deal in the final minutes of the game.
The Govs found a 90-84 win to move them to 6-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
