The Interfraternity Council will be hosting their first Men’s Health Week Nov. 13 through Nov. 18. They will be providing free education and support on the issue of men’s health.
“Basically we are bringing awareness of health issues that men usually are not willing to discuss,” Senior President of IFC and criminal justice major Tyler Tubbs said. “We want to raise attention to issues such as STDs, testicular cancer, prostate cancer as well as just your basic healthy topics such as what you should eat.”
Men’s Health is solely centered on sexual and reproductive matters of the male anatomy. IFC wants to encompass the entire beneficiary components that can lead to a healthy body for the man, no matter the age. IFC has a full week of day-to-day activities.
All through the week Counseling and Health Services will be provided in the University Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the cafeteria.
Monday is “Moustache You a Question,” covering issues on facial hair.
“Get Tested Tuesday,” will make health issue tests available for free.
During “Wellness Wednesday,” a trainer from the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center will be present to provide information about staying healthy and eating right.
There will be a contest called “Fitness Wednesday” where contestants will be handed little sheets of paper with fitness items to execute as an exercise. The person with the most participation points, or most fitness items marked off, wins.
“Therapeutic Thursday” will provide counseling services at a lobby table in the University Center to provide mental health care and advice.
“Facial Friday” will be a facial hair contest, where participants will be judged for the best mustache or beard.
Saturday, IFC will be hosting tailgating party in the overflow lot beside the Dunn Center. They will be serving hot chocolate and giving more information on the subject of men’s health.
