Govs football saw rising sophomore JaVaughn Craig start as quarterback in the red and white spring game on Saturday, Feb. 4. in his first action since the end of the season, Craig went 7-for-8 on passing, including one touchdown pass.
Offensively, APSU’s success carried over from the fall, with Kentell Williams and Griff Wattley bringing in catches for 6 points. Williams caught a 26-yard pass while Wattley pulled in a 17-yard effort.
Definsevly, the Govs struggled last season, but Malik Boynton was a positive note for APSU. On the first drive of the scrimmage Boynton forced and recovered a fumble. Another standout was Jaison Williams, who had two tackles in the backfield. Austin Maloata, a former Oregon Duck, also earned a sack on the day.
Rising senior Kyran Moore had a 22-yard catch on the day, and rushed three times for 40 yards, with a long of 27. Teddy Moffett hit five passes for 57 yards while having eight rushes for 85 yards.
The Govs will be finishing the spring by preparing for the upcoming season.
