APSU Alumnus and former Gov Jared Carkuff is putting up big numbers for the 2015 Gulf Coast League Division Champion Blue Jays, the Rookie team for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Carkuff, the Bell Buckle native entered the draft after his junior year, but went un drafted and returned to APSU for his senior year. Carkuff earned All Ohio Valley Conference First Team award along with an OVC Championship Team award as a senior relief pitcher.
Carkuff was signed on June 17, 2016 and has appeared in 12 games so far. In his last eight games for the Blue Jays, Carkuff has earned seven saves and one win. He also has no blown saves.
Carkuff has an impressive ERA of 1.17 in 15.1 innings pitched. Carkuff has walked two batters and only hit one.
The Blue Jays are currently in first place of the Northwest Division, four games ahead of the Phillies and have 26 games left.
