APSU Men’s Basketball Head Coach Dave Loos recently underwent surgery after a malignant tumor was found on his colon, but is expected to make a full recovery.
According to APSU Sports Information Desk, Loos had the tumor removed at St. Thomas Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The tumor had spread to one out of 23 lymph nodes and will require chemotherapy treatments.
Assistant coach Jay Bowen will lead the program while Loos recovers. Bowen worked with Loos as an assistant coach during the 2001-02 season, when APSU built their 2003 Ohio Valley Conference Championship team, and returned to the program for the 2015-16 season.
“Our thoughts and concerns right now are for the health and well-being of Coach Loos,” APSU Athletics Director Ryan Ivey said to APSU Sports Information Desk. “We look forward to welcoming him back when he has made a full recovery.”
