The Eastern Illinois Panthers football team had no problem putting away the Governors Saturday, Sept. 29, 65-15.
The Panthers put up video game-like statistics against the Govs on Saturday. Panther’s quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went 18 of 31 passes for 453 yards with 5 touchdowns. Garoppolo found receiver Chris Wright three times for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Govs found some success in the second quarter when quarterback Jake Ryan found wide receiver Devin Stark for a touchdown pass. Later running back Wesley Kitts would score from 15 yards out followed by a two point conversion pass to Stark. Running back Terrence Oliver had 100 yards receiving in the game. Ryan went 23 of 46 passes for 205 yards with a touchdown.
The Govs will take on Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State next Saturday night, Oct. 6, at Governors Stadium.
