The Office of Housing and Residence Life has contracted out the Riverview Inn and the Best Western Hotel off Exit 4 to serve as overflow housing for incoming students.
Students will pay $3300 each semester they live at the hotels as they wait to transfer to on-campus housing. The need to use the hotels comes from the large number of incoming students for the fall.
The rate for living in the hotels is the same as living in other Freshmen Residence Halls like Castle Heights and Governors Terrace North.
A webpage on the Housing website lists information about overflow housing such as price, features and security.
The hotel rooms will come with two queen-sized beds, television, refrigerator and microwave, and hotel housekeeping staff will clean the rooms weekly. Students will have the option of driving to school or riding a shuttle service to and from campus.
Students will need to wash their clothes on campus and will have access to Meacham Apartments or Castle Heights to do their laundry.
APSU staff will live in the hotels to provide security and assistance to students.
A manager at Best Western said they were unable to comment at this time about other details regarding overflow housing.
