As we roll on through October and straight into November, the weather gets cooler, the Uggs start coming out, and the election is upon us. Now, I am pretty sure everyone has been keeping up with this whirlwind of a election; whether it be through Hillary and Donald arguing through Twitter, or screaming at the television during the presidential debates.
I am going to be honest with you.
As someone who was nervous to vote in this election, I know how important my voice is during this time. If you think that it is pointless to cast your vote this coming Election Day, you are wrong. Many of us have watched adults rock the “I voted!” stickers around election, and I don’t know about you, but I used to think it was pretty exciting. Seeing those stickers was a reminder that I would soon have the privilege of voting. Now, here I am, 18 years old and a first time voter, and as I look at my options, I am incredibly scared. Donald Trump once said that if you vote for Hillary, you’re getting another four years of Obama. Well, the joke is on you Donald because that is exactly what I want. Personally, I would rather have someone with actual experience in the White House over someone who thinks it is okay to act like a 5-year-old in an old man’s body.
So, if you think your vote will not matter, that your singular ballot has no power in a red state, do us all a favor and vote anyway. Your voice and your opinion matter even if you think it does not. You might not see it this way, but once you cast your ballot on November 8th, you will become a part of history.
