College students are always looking for new spots to grab food, get in a good study session and overall have a great time with some friends.
With this in mind, local pizza restaurant Old Chicago, located not far from campus on Wilma Rudolph Blvd. has broadened its reach in the community —now offering Austin Peay State University students a 10% student discount with a valid student ID.
Posters around APSU’s campus can also be seen, inviting students and faculty to their weekly Tuesday Trivia Nights and their Wednesday Ballad Bingo Nights— offering students a free and fun experience while simultaneously getting to use their student discount on any of their purchases.
The restaurant is also a sponsor for one of APSU’s forthcoming spring events hosted by the women’s fraternity Alpha Gamma Delta— the annual Mac and Cheese Cook-off.
The event will take place on March 29 in the Morgan University Center from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. where students with tickets (bought in advance for $5 or at the door for $7) can indulge in all kinds of mac and cheese while also contributing to the fight to end hunger.
Old Chicago, as a sponsor and participant of the event, will be serving their famous Chicken and Bacon Mac as an effort to serve the community and give support to the local food banks.
“I feel like the least we can do is affect the world around us,” said Alexis Robertson, Supervisor and Store Marketer of Old Chicago.
In another effort to do this, Old Chicago is also partnering with the Arthritis Foundation to host a Give Back Night on March 4 where 15% of the profits from anyone who presents the event’s flyer in paper or virtual form from 5-8 p.m. will go to Arthritis Foundation.
“We’ve grown with Clarksville, and I just want to help put back into the community,” said Robertson.
This specific Old Chicago location, though being a corporate chain restaurant, is not limiting itself to this title and is instead using their involvement in APSU and other organizations to make an impact in the community.
