On Wednesday, August 30, students of Austin Peay State University gathered at Magic Wheels Fun Center for a Welcome Back Skate Night.
The event was hosted by the Adult, Nontraditional and Transfer Student Center and welcomed all APSU students to attend with the promise of free admission.
“It’s something that is kind of fun for all ages and then there’s not just skating here. They have the games and the jungle gym, so it’s an event that brings our community together” said Center Director Ashley Kautz.
Students enjoyed the night on their roller skates, some getting the chance to show off their cool moves and some getting the chance to learn a new skill, while making new friends at the same time.
Even the official APSU mascot, the Governor, showed up and showed out, joining the students on the skating rink to dance to the “Cupid Shuffle” and play a game of Musical Cones.
The night was accompanied by lots of loud music, good food, a few falls, but most of all a lot of fun after a long day of school for some.
“It was a great break from classes. I wish we could get this type of break from classes everyday,” said Tyler Lindsey, a finance major.
If you missed this skate night, or are interested in attending another night like this, the ANTS Center already has plans to do it again in the future.
