Tatiana Ariza, APSU soccer’s all time leader in goals (54) and points (132), will once again be joining the Colombian national team for the 2016 Rio Olympics, held Aug. 3-20 in Brazil.
Ariza played for the Lady Govs from 2010-2013 and earned several awards. She was named Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year while also earning first team all OVC.
In 2012, she was named the OVC Offensive Player of the Year. She earned first team all OVC each year she played for the Govs.
This is not the first time Ariza has played for her national team, as she represented Colombia in 2012 in London and played in the 2015 and 2011 Women’s World Cup. She also helped capture a silver medal for Colombia at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.
In the 2015 World Cup, Ariza helped make history for her national team by assisting on teammate Daniela Montoya’s goal late in the game to tie Mexico.
Ariza was chosen to represent Las Cafeteras against France on Aug. 3. Colombia will take on New Zealand on Aug. 6 and the U.S. on Aug. 9.
