APSU fell to the University of Miami Ohio 2-13 on Friday, Feb. 13. APSU was down 0-5 by the third inning and could not get anything going with the bats.
The Lady Govs only had six hits in the game, which did not help their cause. The Miami Redhawks, on the other hand, had 18 hits total.
Amber Logemann for the Redhawks picked up the win, pitching six innings with 13 strikeouts.
APSU’s Natalie Ayala gave up five runs in 1.1 innings pitched. Overall the story of this game was the inability of the APSU pitchers to get outs consistently, and that showed in the ending score of the game.
The second game of the double header ended 9-0, with the lady Redhawks holding APSU hitless. Miami’s Remy Edwards pitched a no-hitter against the Lady Govs.
Miami scored 7 runs in the first inning, including a grand slam by Jenna Jones.
This season is still a young one for APSU. This 1-6 start has given APSU the chance to see what they need to improve on the most.
Where the Lady Govs will end up in the standings remains to be seen, but APSU has most of the season ahead of them during which to move forward.
