The Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts at APSU is accepting nominations for the Acuff Circle Ovation Awards until Tuesday, Jan. 20.
There are four categories of these awards that individuals and institutions may be nominated for: Individual Artist, Young Artist, Community and Business. Nominees for the Individual Artist category must be Tennessee artists who are current or past residents of Montgomery County. A senior in high school living in Clarksville-Montgomery County may be nominated for the Young Artist category for excelling in any of the subcategory award areas, including visual arts, theatre, instrumental music, vocal performance and creative writing. Winners in the Young Artist category are given preference when applying for Acuff Circle’s $1,000 scholarship in the arts at APSU. The Community category accepts Clarksville-Montgomery County organizations or institutions with impressive arts community projects or programs, but schools and school districts are not eligible for this award. Any business in Montgomery County that has notably supported the arts may be nominated for the Business category. Government agencies will not be accepted.
Acuff Circle sponsors the awards and is a non-profit organization associated with the APSU Center of Excellence. The awards have been presented since 1996.
APSU Photography Professor Susan Bryant is a past winner from the Individual Artist category. “It was a real honor to be selected and recognized as an artist in the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community,” Bryant said.
