Senators Taylor Gaston and Thomas Thornton presented resolution number two at the SGA meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
This bill will send a recommendation to the Physical Plant asking them to pour concrete on the gravel area of Govs Lane between the UC and the flowerbed that many students use as a shortcut.
According to the bill, the loose gravel causes a “safety hazard” and doesn’t “present the best possible image” of the campus to future students.
Chief Justice Kelsey Smith told SGA members to “get excited” for MudBowl on Sunday, Sept. 29. Senators will volunteer to prepare this event the Saturday beforehand.
Smith said MudBowl is up to capacity with 64 teams and there is “a sixty percent chance that it won’t rain.”
The SGA is also beginning to prepare for its next big event, G.H.O.S.T., which is a safe Halloween festival for children and their parents. G.H.O.S.T. will occur on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 4 to 7 p.m.
SGA Vice President Jessi Dillingham reminded senators to submit their legislation for the fall semester and not to “wait until the last minute.”
Senators Ben Pafford and Sam Hall were appointed at this meeting and sworn in with the oath of office led by Justice Smith.
“This is exciting because we now have a full senate,” said Dillingham, regarding the new appointments.
SGA members ended the meeting by singing happy birthday to Dean Singleton. Afterward, they celebrated with cupcakes and cookies.
